For the Joy of Riding: Pamper Pedal 2024

For the Joy of Riding: Pamper Pedal 2024

By Caroline Britton, Event Coordinator, Pamper Pedal

After a four year hiatus, the Pamper Pedal returned to the Eastern Sierra on June 1, 2024. Over 100 women ranging in age from 11 to 80+ joined this all-female ride from Mammoth Lakes, CA to Bishop, CA,  a distance of 44 miles with beautiful views of the Sierra Mountains.

The Pamper Pedal was the brainchild of Jeff and Lesley Byberg beginning in the 90's. The Bybergs are avid cyclists and wanted to create an event that focused on FUN! The ride is as unique as they come, including a "theme of the year" for costumes, over the top rest stops - including an optional mimosa at the final stop, and a huge after party with food, drink, music, and an epic raffle. Prizes are awarded for Youngest Rider and Best Dressed. This year the theme was "Resort Wear" and the ladies came out in force with great costumes.

As the current event coordinator, I love putting together this ride purely because it's a day focused on fun and the joy of riding a bicycle. The ride brings together our community with eager volunteers and generous support from local organizations to make the event happen.

Big thanks to Eliel for their support of women's cycling and supporting the vision of the Pamper Pedal to make cycling accessible and fun to all. Don't forget to save the date for the 2025 Pamper Pedal on Saturday, May 31. Stay tuned to https://www.eastsidevelo.org/ for more information on the 2025 event.
