Pedals and People: A Journey of Building Community

Pedals and People: A Journey of Building Community

My name is Derek Wiback and I’m one of the co-founders of Eliel Cycling. I am thrilled to share with you the experience I had attending the incredible All Clubs LA. It was not just an opportunity to support Charon Smith, but also a chance to immerse myself in the vibrant world of passionate riders, community builders, and trailblazers.

Charon SmithThe event, filled with engaging activities, was centered around a theme that resonates deeply with our brand ethos – 'Building Community.' From panel discussions and invigorating bike rides, to a memorable casino night and a glamorous black-tie gala, every moment was an ode to the spirit of unity that cycling fosters.

The panel discussions were one highlight, bringing together leaders and influencers from the cycling industry. They delved into important topics such as diversity and inclusion, as well as breaking down barriers, and I feel everyone left inspired. The insights shared were not only eye-opening but also served as a catalyst for us to reflect on how our brand can contribute to our global cycling culture.

The bike rides, weaving through scenic routes down the Pacific coast, allowed me to connect with fellow cyclists on a more personal level. As we pedaled together, exchanging stories and IG handles, I was reminded of the profound sense of camaraderie that cycling fosters. It was invigorating to witness the passion and dedication that each rider brought to the event, transcending geographical boundaries and uniting us under the common love for two wheels. So many of the people I met were from the East Coast including many fellow Eliel Factory Team riders.

Friday Ride

Friday RideThe Friday casino night, filled with laughter, friendly competition and flapper dresses, kept me out late. I love gambling with fake money at the craps tables. After all, cycling is not just about the miles on the road; it's also about the joy and camaraderie shared off the saddle.

Black Tie Gala

Saturday’s black-tie gala was a glamorous affair, bringing together riders, industry professionals, and advocates in a celebration of achievements, milestones, and the shared vision of a stronger, more connected community. It was a rare opportunity to wear a tux and get out on the town.

speechesOne of the most enriching aspects of the event was the opportunity to meet individuals from various brands and cycling clubs across the country. The connections forged during those three days were not just about business; they were about building a network of like-minded individuals committed to making a positive impact on the cycling world. Collaborations were discussed, ideas were exchanged, and friendships were formed – all contributing to the foundation of a stronger, more interconnected cycling community.

As the founder of our brand, attending this event reinforced our commitment to not just selling products but also being an active participant in the collective journey of building a more diverse cycling world. We are inspired by the stories we heard, the friendships we made, and the shared vision for the future of cycling.

In conclusion, the All Clubs LA event was not just about bikes; it was about people, passion, and the power of community. It served as a reminder that when we come together, united by our love for cycling, we can break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and build a future where everyone feels welcome on the open road.

Pedal on, my friends, and let's continue building a community that celebrates the joy of cycling for all.
